The firsts, APD Dumfries, won their opening National League fixture by 6 wickets away at Prestwick on Saturday. Scott Beveridge took three wickets and Stuart Corbett-Byers scored 45 in an excellent bowling and fielding display (Prestwick 136 all out, APD Dumfries 138-4 39.3 overs).
This was the headline of the weekend but perhaps the story was the age of the Seconds and Sunday sides which justifies the youth policy at the club. Five were 19 or under in the seconds and the average age of the Sunday side must have been about 20 and it wasn’t a case of making up numbers. Read the rest of this entry »
