After five wickets were down in the fifties it needed a fighting fifty partnership from Jim Patterson with 29 and Jerry Goodin with 23 to rescue the side from a perilous 99 for 7. Only opener Alan Davidson got past twenty with 27 and the side needed to bowl and field well to defend the all out total of 160.
The spin of Scott Beveridge was needed to get rid of the two openers and a fine opening spell from Jim Patterson removed numbers 4 and 5. However their South African professional, Van Wyk (47no), found a partner in Fleming (41no) and 81 for 4 was the best it got for Dumfries as they went down by 6 wickets.
