APD Dumfries leapfrogged Edinburgh to take their second place spot with a heavy 138 run victory away in Scottish National League Division 2.

Dumfries rattled up their biggest total of the league season by setting a target of 252 for 7. The mainstay of the innings was Josh Geary who compiled an excellent 69 batting at number 4.

The Davidson openers, Davie and Alan, again got the side off to a good start with a 72 run opening partnership. Geary then had useful partnerships with Dawson and skipper Beveridge who scored 30. When he and then Geary were out to make it 224 for 6 a Corbett-Byers cameo boosted the final total to 252. Read the rest of this entry »

Dumfries and Galloway Under 17s won against Gatehouse CC on Sunday in a warm-up match for upcoming area matches.

Gatehouse batted first and Sachin set the standards with a fine display of stroke-making with 80 in a total of 183 all out, but the fielding and bowling was equally impressive. The wickets were shared around with Anthony Hulatt the only bowler to take 2 wickets. The pick of the bowlers was Chris Edgar who only conceded 9 runs from his 8 overs.

Douglas Brotherstone (59) and Adam Elliot (37) both played entertaining innings and made sure that the four wicket victory was achieved. However it was Robbie Carson who steered the side home with an efficient unbeaten knock of 17 no.

In the DG U13 League Dumfries Cowboys beat Langholm/Lockerbie Lightning in a high scoring game at Nunholm. Niall Alexander scored an unbeaten fifty in the 152 for 4 and Douglas Hubbert took three wickets as the Langholm side fell 39 runs short. Callum Bell and James Cook both took 2 wickets for the visitors while Stuart Murray scored 22 no.

At Langholm where Langholm Lightning took on Dumfries Injuns runs were harder but the game was just as hard-fought. The Dumfries side batted first and the Langholm team must have fancied chasing the 63 runs total. However some very good bowling proved too much and they had to settle for 49 all out. Connor Bowie, Chris McBride and Todd Rafferty took 3 wickets apiece.
