Dumfries Cricket Club’s Niall Alexander has been in the action during the Scotland U19 tour to Sri Lanka.

The youngster has figured in the team’s matches against local sides and has claimed two wickets in two of the matches. The side have two wins and two losses and plenty of practice against spin so far.

The squad are preparing for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers which take place in the Netherlands this summer.

As well as matches and training the Scotland squad visited an MCC sponsored foundation in the south of the country and saw the tsunami relief projects in the area. There the players were out coaching the local schoolchildren. The side have two more games this week to conclude the tour.

Outdoor Training: the Dumfries club’s senior pre-season training continues outdoors on Tuesdays evenings at the Dumfries Sports Club at Nunholm starting at 6pm.

New players are welcome to come along and the first friendly matches of the season are on the weekend of the 13th April.
