Membership Renewals for 2018

26 01 2017

The new membership year starts from 1st March 2018.

Members who pay for the whole year by cash, card or cheque are asked to complete a new membership form, tick the renewal box and drop their payment (Cheque, card or Cash) into the bar, the bar is open from 5pm during the week and from 1.30pm Saturday or Sunday. Please get a receipt for your payment.

Life Members and the Members who pay by Standing Order do NOT need to do anything, their details will be transfer automatically by the club, however please check your details are up to date.

Members who wish to pay by Card using the PayPal service can do so by logging in to their club account (details can be provided if you don’t know yours), select the “Top-up via PayPal” button, using the drop down menu then select the appropriate amount then add your card details (you may need to repeat this if paying for a Couple or Family Membership to cover the full amount). Any additional funds above your membership fee will be left in your club account. Please Note; If you choose to do it this way please let the Membership Secretary know before hand so they can remove the sum straight-away. You don’t need a PayPal account to do this.

If you need to update your details you can login and complete this yourself or complete the membership form and tick the renewal box. Likewise if you have changed your bank details, please create a new Standing Order payment with your new bank.

Over the last few years we have welcomed many new members so please note the following;

Members are allowed to bring guests to the club for a drink, a game of squash or tennis, however, we ask that you please complete the visitors book which is located at the bottom of the stairs or behind the bar. Members are not allowed to bring guests to use the gym. Members are asked to restrict the same guest to no more that 3 games of either squash or tennis per year. Anything above that then please ask them to join on a Trial Membership or a Full Membership.

Trial Membership

Trial Memberships cover a 2 year period, therefore if a Trial Member does not join after their 2 months Trial ends they will NOT be allowed another Trial until a full year period has lapsed. They can join as a full/Pro-rata member at anytime after their trial has ended.

Direct Debits

The Direct Debit payment option has been removed and replaced with Standing Order. This makes it easier for members to pay their subscriptions, unfortunately this means that those members are paying their fees in arrears. Therefore, should a member decide to cancel their payments before full payment has been received then the club will NOT automatically accept this member back the following year or beyond, the club may ask for the outstanding balance to be paid upfront before they are considered. These cases will be discussed by the Management Committee.

Squash & Gym News

26 09 2017
Please note the following;
We are renewing the flooring in the lounge area w/c 2nd Oct and as such we are having to store all the tables, chairs and table tennis table in the gym area. Therefore the gym will be closed on Tuesday 3rd, Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th. We apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.
Please also, note that the gym equipment should be getting sorted this week.
Squash Courts
Both the Squash club and the sports club management committee have agreed to remove the 20p courts during off-peak time on a Saturday and Sunday. Therefore from the 30th September all off-peak courts will rise to £1 per person. (please note court 4 is being changed over as I write this email)
We would also advise you that courts 1 & 2 are having some works done in October and that will mean both courts will be closed for 2 week. The works are scheduled to start w/c 23rd October, again apologies for the inconvenience but these works are necessary to keep our courts up to the standard that our members have come to expect over the years.
Best regards
Dumfries Sports Club Committee

The option would be to either set-up a Standing Order, this can be done using online banking or by completing the relevant form and dropping it into your bank.

Individuals and teams of 5 people upwards are invited to join in. Amanda Creedon-Bass from the Sports Club said “The emphasis is on a fun few hours of activities which will give an opportunity to have a go at a variety of sports; netball, football, tennis, cricket, and hockey plus an obstacle course with prizes for the winning team and as importantly the best-dressed team. No experience is necessary, just bring your trainers and your friends.”

Sandra Proudfoot, Head of Delegation for the Special Olympics Team, said on behalf of Dumfries and Galloway Disability Sport that “it is great that the club are supporting us as a charity. We hope that the inspiration of the Rio Olympics and Team GB will inspire a few people to have a go and try some new activities. Appropriately the inspiration of the Paralympics for those we help will be starting in Rio the following Wednesday”.

Entries to the “Trainers On” event can be made by emailing and sending in an entry fee of £30 per team, with proceeds destined for D&G Disability Sport.
