Dumfries Sports Club

The inaugural Pathfinder Scottish Open Racketball Championships are being held this weekend at the Club and as a result all courts will be closed to general play for all of Saturday (10 – 6pm) and most of Sunday. The tournament has attracted 45 entries from all over Scotland and a handful from south of the Border.

Please come along and support our contingent of local players.

Our sponsors include Pathfinder Park Homes, Dupont Teijin Films, Anderson Fire & Rescue Products, Print.Copy Centre Dumfries and Solway Offset. The Club also received £500 grant aid from Nithsdale Sports Council.

Jimmy Wells, Ronnie Carter, Robin Ridley, Abbie Robertson, Davy Rogan, Russell Hunter, Frank Ellis, Sue Strachan and Faith Sinclair have all been selected to represent Scotland in their respective age-groups in the forthcoming Home Internationals series starting at end of April. Congratulations from Dumfries Sports Club. The Club has two Scottish Squash Champions in its midst. Jimmy Wells won the O45 title and Davy Rogan the O75 title at the Nationals Masters in Aberdeen recently. Runners-up were Robin Ridley – O50s and Davy Rogan – O70s.

The D&G Closed U-30 Championships were held last weekend at the Club and the Final was won by the club’s Chris McCutcheon.

Following-up on 4 titles at the East Masters in January, the Squash Club continued its winning ways this weekend at Bridge of Allan’s Central Masters and Nunholm players won 4 titles (the O40, O45, O75 and LO35 by Frank Ellis, Jimmy Wells, Davy Rogan and Sue Strachan, respectively), were runners-up in four (the O45, O50, O70 and LO50 by Ronnie Carter, Robin Ridley, Abbie Robertson and Faith Sinclair, respectively) and the O55 Plate, Raymond Kirk.
