Top Placed Knights yield to Alexander

Man of the match AlexanderAPD Dumfries pulled of a dramatic win on Sunday against the National League Division 2 leaders Dunfermline Knights. In an enthralling game the opposition were restricted to 150 all out after Stuart Alexander blew away their top order with an opening spell which claimed 4 wickets. (This was the same time as the sightscreen was also blown over).

He got them, with the assistance of his bowling partner Alan Maskrey, and also hit the winning boundary which explained the cheer which must have reached the squash and tennis courts.

In a good weekend for the cricket section the seconds beat GU Staff in their league game by 3 wickets chasing 203. Headlining were the ubiquitous McBride brothers, Robert and Tommy with 3 wickets and 61 respectively and ‘run-machine’ wicketkeeper Weeks with 70.

The Dumfries Under-13 team surprised Ayr by knocking them out of the Scottish Cup on Thursday, (they were the team in maroon) and one of the club U13 sides also won at Langholm on Sunday while three others were playing for South of Scotland against Cumbria.
