Three junior members of Nunholm Squash Club are entered into the Central Regional Junior Open at Bridge of Allan Squash Club this weekend.

Iain Anderson, aged 16, 15-year-old Douglas Brotherston and 11-year-old Dean Brotherston will compete against players from across Scotland in the event.

The competition is an A-graded event in the Scottish Squash calendar so will feature the best junior players throughout the country.

All three boys are regular members of the club’s popular nights held every Sunday between 7pm and 9pm at Nunholm Squash Club which is part of Dumfries Sports Club.

Junior convener Raymond Currie said: “This competition will give all three boys an opportunity to play with the best players in Scotland within their age groups.

“They all have their own strengths and weaknesses but I know they will give 100 per cent in the way of effort.

“The boys have been getting in extra practice over the last few weeks so let’s hope it pays off for them.”

As more and more members want to have a go at racketball, the squash committee is thankful to Davy Douglas, of Backswing, who has provided rackets and balls to the club to give players a chance to try the game.
