APD Dumfries leapfrogged Edinburgh to take their second place spot with a heavy 138 run victory away in Scottish National League Division 2.

Dumfries rattled up their biggest total of the league season by setting a target of 252 for 7. The mainstay of the innings was Josh Geary who compiled an excellent 69 batting at number 4.

The Davidson openers, Davie and Alan, again got the side off to a good start with a 72 run opening partnership. Geary then had useful partnerships with Dawson and skipper Beveridge who scored 30. When he and then Geary were out to make it 224 for 6 a Corbett-Byers cameo boosted the final total to 252.

Edinburgh kept going for their shots in reply. However they were stalled by a combination of Stuart Alexander back to his opening spot and good catching. Alexander went on to claim four wickets and when he dismissed opener Saeed for 22 Edinburgh were in trouble at 50 for 4.

Despite 39 from number 7, Beveridge and Patterson disposed of the tail with half the overs still left to end the Edinburgh innings on 114 all out and register a good win for Dumfries. This Saturday APD Dumfries are at home to Freuchie in a renewal of the title contest they had in 2006 when they came a close second to the promoted Fife side.

JMS Nunholm couldn’t take their opportunities against Cambusdoon in Western Union Division 2. A good performance in the field reduced the Ayr side to 69 for 5 but they still managed to reach 255 all out thanks to a dominant 146 from McDonald. Then from 82 for no wicket the Dumfries side were all out for 206 with sixties from Cross and Farries and a powerful 32 from Cox.
