16 02 2010

Dumfries Squash Club was represented at the penultimate Scottish Squash Masters tournament of the season at the Bridge of Allan Masters last weekend and came away with three titles out of the five contested and out of the 9 men’s titles on offer.

Dumfries’ “young” lads, Davy Rogan and Abbie Robertson, both won their respective age-groups. Davy Rogan won all three of his round-robin matches to secure the O-75s title, while Abbie Robertson had a tough 3-2 semi-final win before an easier 3-0 final win to secure the O-70s title.

In the O-45s current Scottish Champion Jimmy Wells was in excellent form once again. He won his quarter-final 3-1 and in the semi-final he defeated Lockerbie’s Ronnie Carter 3-1 and won the title with a commanding performance in the final winning 3-0 over Tam Adams from Crieff.

In the O-50s, Keith Gristwood secured a 3-2 win in the Plate final.

Dumfries Squash Club continues to push well above its weight on the Scottish Squash Masters national circuit and with the final tournament of the season 3 weeks away in Aberdeen will be looking to secure further National titles.
