Cricket: Another McBride Century sets up Dumfries win

In National League Division 2 on Saturday leaders APD Dumfries beat Freuchie very convincingly in their away fixture.

Dumfries set an imposing target of 301 for 4 with eighteen year old Tom McBride top scoring with 111, his second century against Freuchie this season.

Scott Beveridge also powered to 81 in a match winning 176 run partnership.

Dumfries then dismissed Freuchie for just 122 to win comfortably with Chris McCutcheon taking three wickets.

In Western Union Division 2 JMS Nunholm beat GU staff by 5 wickets at home to move into third place by successfully chasing the opposition total of 187 all out.

Cammie Telfer’s five wickets brought Nunholm back into the game after a century partnership and for Nunholm it required the fifth wicket combination of Russell Johnston (63no) and Robert McBride (43no) to settle the result.

On Sunday away in Strathclyde Sunday League Division 2, the Site Electrical Dumfries total of 177 was too much for Kelburne to chase who finished on 110 for 6.

Eleven year old Chris McBride made it a weekend of runs for the McBride brothers, top scoring with 27, and Douglas Brotherstone was the side’s all-rounder with 21 runs and four wickets.

Russell Johnston saw Nunholm home with 63 not out.

On Saturday APD Dumfries are at home to Edinburgh in National League Division 2. On Sunday the team travel to the Murgitroyd Scottish Twenty20 Finals in Glasgow to encounter Premier League Forfarshire at 1pm in the semi-final.

The side will be without Tom McBride who is in action for Scotland U18s in the European Championships where the top two teams progress to the U19 World Cup qualification tournament.

In Western Union Division 2 on Saturday, JMS Nunholm travel to play Cambusdoon. Site Electrical Dumfries play Gatehouse at home on Sunday in a local friendly.
