On Saturday, APD Dumfries overtook their opponents, Drumpellier, to move into fourth place in the CSL Western Premier League after a 23 run win.

Dumfries posted 177 all out with the Dupont Teijin Films Man of the Match, Scott Beveridge, providing the crucial innings, top scoring with 58.

He arrived at the crease with Dumfries in difficulties at 68 for 5 but when he was out Dumfries had boosted the score past one hundred and fifty.

Then opening bowler Chris McCutcheon took the first four wickets to fall to take the heart out of the Drumpellier line-up at 35 for 4. Their innings also revived but Alan Davidson continued his wicket-taking run with another four wickets as Drumpellier were bowled out for 154 with six overs left.

APD Dumfries next play at Ayr on Saturday in the league and are lined up against Edinburgh side Grange in the semi-final of the Murgitroyd Scottish Twenty20 at Poloc CC on Sunday.

Eco-Genics Nunholm lost a low scoring match at home against Drumpellier 2nds, Langloan, in the Western Premier Reserve League. Jerry Goodin took four wickets for the Barbours’ Man of the Match award as Langloan were dismissed for eighty nine but Nunholm fell fifteen runs short, all out for seventy five.

After being part of the Scotland U19 squad in the Netherlands that qualified for the U19 World Cup last week, Dumfries’s Niall Alexander toured this week with Scotland U17s in 2-day encounters against U17 County sides.

The Scotland Womens’ Development side, including Dumfries player Kirsty Strachan, played Lancashire U19s in three games at Nunholm last week with the County side coming out on top in a series of well contested games.
