Squash Championships 2010
19th- 21st November
The 2nd South of Scotland Masters Squash Championships at Dumfries Squash Club have been confirmed for the 19th – 21st November 2010.
This is a Scottish Squash and Racketball Masters Circuit tournament. Further information available on Entry Form.
Deadline for entries: Friday 12th November 2010.

Junior Squash Club Night re-commences on Saturday 18th September and every Saturday thereafter.
Held from 5-7pm Junior night is open to all junior members of the Sports Club and offers coaching sessions for squash and racketball. Non members also very welcome to have a go.
Cost is £1.00 per night for members and £2.00 per night for non-members. Further details available on the squash notice-board.
The squash programme for the new season has the following dates for the diary.

It’s fun, it’s easy to play and it’s great for everyone. What is it? It’s Scotland’s new sport – racketball.
Over the next couple of months, racketball is going to be rolled out all over the country. By the end of the launch period it is expected that kids, teenagers and even grans and grandads will be hooked by an activity that is similar to squash, but more accessible to all. Read more…

Squash coaching sessions have been arranged for the following dates. If interested please enter your name on the list on the squash noticeboard. It’s first-come first-served and limited to 2 participants per session, ideally of a similar standard, to ensure maximum benefit.
Tuesday 31st Aug – 7.15pm
Wednesday 1st Sep – 6.45pm
Thursday 9th Sep – 7.15pm
Tuesday 14th Sep – 7.15pm
Wednesday 15th Sep – 6.45pm

Participants will each be responsible for payment of a court fee (£1.60) and this should be paid to one of the bar staff prior to the coaching session.
Doubles Tournament: Deadline for entry is Sunday 22nd August with tournament being played on Sunday 29th August from 2-6pm. Registration form on Squash notice-board.

Dear Squash Players,
Welcome to the latest issue of the e-newsletter focussing on news and events in the squash section of Dumfries Sports Club. Inside this issue:
Off-Peak Pricing – the squash committee will be preparing a plan to present to the Sports Club’s Management Committee in September for the introduction of off-peak squash court pricing. Off-peak periods are generally during the morning, mid-afternoon and late evening and the aim is to increase the utilisation during these periods.
Any proposal needs to be revenue-neutral to avoid a veto, so heavily-discounted court fees during off-peak periods will necessitate a small increase in peak-period court fees. Summer Club Night is on a Monday night from 6pm to 9pm and has been proving popular. Club Nights are for players of all standards and ages. All you need to do is turn up, sign in and wait your turn on court. Format is one game PAR to 15 and you’ll play 2 games before waiting your next turn on court.
