D&G Council has made an order to close Nunholm road on one day only from midnight to 8am on a Sunday on either the 2nd March, 9th March, or 16th March. The temporary closure will be at the railway bridge to remove the bridge deck. Pedestrian access will be possible.

The club have asked him to visit Dumfries to give the many promising youngsters at the club some advice and inspiration from his experience of the professional game before their season starts in earnest. Please note that the squash junior clubnights will NOT take place on the Sunday nights listed below. The dates involved are mostly over the Easter and school holidays.

The Dumfries Tennis Club AGM will take place on Thursday the 28th of February in the Farries Suite at 7:00 pm. The committee would welcome as many members as possible to be in attendance.
Welcome to the Sports Club’s new website.
The Club Management Committee hope that this will provide useful and interesting information on the club as a whole and on the goings-on within each of the club’s busy sections, cricket, hockey, running, squash and tennis.
One of the aims is to communicate more readily with the club membership and between the sections and to develop the identity of the Dumfries Sports Club within the club and to visitors and new members.

There was no respite for the bar staff at the weekend. After the full-house at the Friday Poker night they were faced with the 24 participants in the Squash Chairman’s Birthday Bash handicap event on Saturday night. This time it was Soup and Salad rather than Bottles of Beer but resulted in another busy night. Rumours that the Chairman is to institute an official birthday in order to arrange another event have been denied by her spokesperson.
Dumfries climb the league ladder
Giffnock III’s 0 – 2 Dumfries Men HC (Iain Callander, Ben Chambers)
After a good result last weekend Dumfries were determined to carry their form into Saturday’s game against Giffnock in Glasgow.
As many will have seen there has been a lot of maintenance work taking place at the Clubhouse this week.
The bumps and thumps in the ceiling have been the result of more insulation being installed. Work is also being undertaken to fit new radiators and a new boiler has been installed. This has meant some short-term disruption to the heating but is aimed at cutting back on the high, and still increasing, energy costs which have had to be reflected in increased subscription costs.
Hopefully members will have one eye on their subs and help to minimise energy wastage by ensuring doors and windows are closed where appropriate and by turning off equipment and lights when not required.
