Nunholm Squash Masters in Home Internationals tussle

2008 Scotland Masters
A sunny Edinburgh on Friday saw the start of the final Masters Squash Home Internationals of the season. The Nunholm Squash Club was once more represented with Sue Strachan playing again, this time for the Womens over 35s.
She started the team off in style with a 3-0 win over the Welsh number five and the team went on to record a 5-0 victory over Wales. Next was Ireland and another 5-0 result and another 3-0 win for Sue this time playing at number four. Read the rest of this entry »

Court side account of the final home internationals
20 05 2008Friday saw a sunny Edinburgh welcome the Men’s and womens over 35’s and the mens over 40’s squash teams from all the home nations. With me at number 5 I had to begin the campaign and did so with a 3-0 win over the Welsh number 5 – this extended to the team winning 5-0 over Wales. International Caps for Nunholm Squash duo
2 05 2008Two local players from the Nunholm Squash Club took part in the Masters Squash Home Internationals at the Welsh Institute of Sport last the weekend.

Davy Rogan on Border TV
The Border TV cameras were trained on court 3 today as the Squash club’s Scotland representatives showed off their paces on the court below.
Sue Strachan and Jimmy Wells were there fresh from their trip to Wales for the Masters Home Internationals and Davy Rogan and Abbie Robertson are due in Dublin for their competition on Friday.

Scotland’s captain reports from Wales
29 04 2008It was with great excitement that the Nunholm squash contingent arrived at the Welsh Institute of Sport on Friday for a quick practice to get used to the courts prior to the start of the Masters Home Internationals. Warm and true they suited us well.

Iain is new junior champion

Jordan selected for Cumbria
27 04 2008Eighteen year-old Jordan Currie from Dumfries, has been selected to represent Cumbria for the U19 Boys to take part in the prestigious Northern Cup, which takes place in Cheshire in May.

Nunholm Squash Masters enter the fray for Scotland
21 04 2008This Friday sees the start of the Masters Squash Home Internationals in Wales (25/26th April) and that means that several players from Nunholm Squash Club will be stepping onto the court for Scotland against England, Wales and Ireland.
Jimmy Wells and Robin Ridley are playing in the Scotland over-45 team, and Sue Strachan is in the Scotland over-40 team. As Club Chairman Sue says “it’s exciting”.
The next round involving Dumfries Sports Club members is in Ireland on the 3rd/4th May when Davy Rogan plays for Scotland over-70s and Abbie Robertson for the over-65 team.
And finally Sue Strachan is in action again, this time at home in Scotland, for the over-35 team on 16th/17th May.

Backswing win league and cup double

Congratulations to Backswing on winning the Dumfries and Galloway Squash League 1st Division title and also the Bard Vet Cup.
The DG 2nd Division title went to N.F.U. We wish them well in the first division next year. Final leagues tables and results are here.
